Hi! I'm Lacy, the Founder of L.A. Functional Nutrition. I became a Functional Medicine Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to help people like myself who struggle to find practitioners who will listen to their story and put all the pieces together. If we work together, I'll be asking you to share your story with me, so it's only fair that I share a piece of mine with you.
Most patients dealing with chronic issues can easily identify their "never well since" point. For me, that point came a few weeks before my 25th birthday. I boarded a plane to Costa Rica feeling completely fine. Within a few hours of landing, I had symptoms that suggested heart and kidney failure. Once those were ruled out, I was given a few prescriptions and well-wishes that someone else could figure out what was wrong with me. This would become a theme.
My health continued to decline over the next few years, slowly at first, and then everything snowballed. My symptom list grew to include brain fog, migraines, chronic fatigue, extensive food sensitivities, hormone imbalances, eczema, and (on my worst days) difficulty speaking. With each specialist who scratched their head and referred me to the next physician, I became less hopeful that I would ever feel like myself again.
My quest to restore my health led me to quit my career, return to school, and work to build my own expertise in nutrition as a form of preventive medicine. My hope is that, through L.A. Functional Nutrition, I can help you avoid some of the frustrations of my wellness journey and get you on the path to feeling well again.
