My Philosophy

Food as the starting point, not an afterthought. Nutrition plays a powerful role in health promotion and disease prevention, influencing the function of every cell and system in our bodies. Despite its well-documented influence on our health and lifespan, nutrition is rarely a part of most healthcare practitioners' toolkits. L.A. Functional Nutrition remedies this by bringing food and lifestyle change to the forefront of your wellness strategy. 

Root cause solutions over bandaids. My practice uses a functional approach, which aims to repair the cause of your symptoms rather than teaching you how to manage the symptoms. What does a root cause approach look like? Stamping out what's driving issues like systemic inflammation, hormone imbalance, or insulin resistance as opposed to prescribing meds to mask their symptoms.

Personalization over one-size-fits-all strategies. We'll work together to uncover the unique blend of genetic, nutrition-related, and environmental factors contributing to your symptoms and collaborate to design a personalized treatment plan that works for you.

Step 1: Learn Your Story

After a thorough review of your symptoms and medical history, we'll have a 90-minute session during which you walk me through the complete story of you.

Step 2: Dig Deeper

Learning your story helps me pinpoint where we need to dig deeper into your symptoms. If indicated, we'll discuss functional lab work that may be beneficial to help us get a better understanding of your health.

Step 3: Treat Holistically

We'll work together to customize a plan that fits your lifestyle while optimizing each of the core functional domains that affect your health: nutrition, sleep, movement, connection, and stress management.

Step 4: Transform Your Health

Coaching patients to make big diet and lifestyle changes is challenging, but I knew it was what I was made to do when my first client said, "I haven't felt this good in years!"

With its roles in nutrient digestion and absorption, detoxification, neurotransmitter creation, and immune system regulation, it's clear that Hippocrates was on to something. Our GI tract is increasingly understood to play a role in the development of food sensitivities, autoimmunity, depression, cognitive decline, hormone imbalance, and chronic inflammation.
